We were approached by the set designing team from Lucas Film a subsidiary of Disney Corporation. Part of the movie was being shot in an original lecture theatre in Glasgow University, the lecture theatre had been used in one of the Harry Potter movies, so when the requirements for this was to provide a look of early in the 20th century this site was chosen. We were chosen because of extensive experience in film and tv works. After many discussions we sat down with the set design team from Lucas Film and set about choosing fabrics and frames which would involve taking the grand, traditional architectural elements of the theatre they opted for robust traditional materials which are durable and enhance the aesthetic.
You can see the neutral finishes which we manufactured and fitted on time and within budget.
Unfortunately during the filming the main star of the film Harrison Ford was injured and filming was delayed for a couple of months. The lease at the University ran out and we had to rebuild the whole site at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire England. This involved remaking everything and reinstalling it 340 miles away. We were given no notice by the client and had to manufacture everything same day and transport and refit which had to be a double of what had been shot in Glasgow if you watch the movie try and see any difference in what was shot in different locations.
